FAQs
I know that reaching out for support can feel overwhelming. Here are some answers to common questions that you may have.
If you have a question that isn’t answered here, I’d love to answer it for you… just send a quick message to me and I’ll be happy to discuss anything that’s on your mind.
There’s no such thing as a silly question so please, whatever is on your mind, do reach out and let’s see if we’re a good fit to work together on your journey.
Do I have to talk a lot in sessions?
Not at all. You can talk as much or as little as you like. I can guide the conversation, offer prompts, or just sit with you in quiet if that’s what you need.
Can I have my camera off?
Absolutely. You can choose video, audio-only, or even text-based sessions if that’s more comfortable for you (text-based sessions also take place via secure encoded Zoom session, using the chat function). It’s all about working together in whichever format helps you feel most safe, comfortable and at-ease. You can let me know your preferences right from the start in the booking form, or we can discuss them in more detail in a complimentary 15-minute consultation before you book. I want to be sure that I meed your needs and preferences right from the start.
What if I need to cancel or reschedule?
Life happens, I get it! I ask for 12 hours’ notice if possible, but I understand that health and energy levels fluctuate… and chronic illness doesn’t always give you a buffer zone or advance notice! Just let me know — no judgment. You can cancel/reschedule straight from my booking platform, or send me an email.
What if I don’t know what I need?
That’s okay. We can figure it out together. You don’t need to have the right words — just bring yourself.
Can someone join me in the session?
Yes. You’re welcome to have a support person, carer, or family member present if that helps you feel safe.
What approach will you take to sessions?
I take a humanistic, person-centred and trauma-informed approach to every session, meaning you’ll be met with empathy, respect, and care…. not a rigid formula. I won’t lock you into any one modality. Instead, we’ll work together to find what feels most supportive for you. This might include drawing from approaches like CBT, DBT, or mindfulness-based strategies, but everything is guided by your preferences, your pace, and any past experiences — positive or painful — you’ve had with therapy. Your voice leads the way.
What does a session cost?
A 60 minute session is $125.00. Please note: A 50% deposit is required at the time of booking to secure your preferred appointment time. The remaining balance will be charged to you at the end of our session.
Do you offer sliding scale fees?
Yes, I offer a limited number of sliding scale spots for people experiencing financial hardship. Please reach out to discuss options.
I’m neurodivergent. Will you understand?
Yes. I’m neurodivergent myself and work in affirming, non-pathologising ways. I adapt sessions to suit your communication style, sensory needs, and processing preferences. If you have specific communication or sensory needs, you can let me know via the booking form before our session… that way, I can have everything ready to go for your needs and preferences right from the start.
